About Nathan
As a proud distinguished alum of Oakton College, Nathan celebrates future graduates by delivering this years’ alumni charge during Oakton’s commencement ceremony.

Nathan Norman is a public service professional with 13 years of experience in local and state government. With a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University, Nathan has served as the City of Evanston’s Manager of Workforce Development and the State of Illinois’s Director of Reentry, and he is currently the Senior Director of Workforce Development at Oakton College.

Nathan has consistently devoted himself to empowering underserved communities, working for equity and inclusion, and promoting civic engagement, transparency, and accountability. He will bring to Skokie his experience working on Evanston’s environmental sustainability plan, the Reimagining Public Safety Committee, and community equity initiatives in partnership with Northwestern University.

Nathan is deeply committed to the holistic betterment of Skokie. He currently serves as a Kingian Nonviolence Trainer and as a Commissioner on Skokie’s Economic Development Commission. He is a steadfast advocate for economic vitality and business development, living-wage empowerment, bridging the gap between young adults and essential community resources, educational pathways, and avenues for professional growth.

While growing up in Evanston and attending Walker Elementary School in Skokie, Nathan fell in love with Skokie and decided that, when he grew up, this would be his home. Ten years ago, he and his wife made that childhood dream a reality and bought a home in the Devonshire neighborhood, where they are raising their family.

Nathan truly embodies the essence of public service and is excited to serve this community he loves. He will work creatively with residents and all involved stakeholders to build on what makes Skokie great and to address issues. He knows that those closest to the problem are those closest to the solution, so he is committed to resident-led processes of governance and innovative policy solutions that enrich the lives of Skokie residents.
